Matthew has been learning to play the gurdy since late 2001. The instrument is a no-frills French style
lute-back in flamed maple, by Neil Brook of Preston, UK. The picture was taken just after a performance
of a historical dance group outside the west door of the medieval cathedral in Norwich, eastern England,
in spring of 2003.
